Disabled Veteran Finds Healing, Thanks to Charitable Flights

Chadrick’s Challenges

Chadrick is a disabled Veteran who lives near Dallas, Texas. “I was wounded in war,” said Chadrick, “and struggle with PTSD.”

These challenges make it hard for him to work, help his family, and overall live the best life he can. “I wanted to stay sober and be a better father,” said Chadrick. He sought help in multiple places, but he couldn’t seem to find true healing.

A Long Shot at Healing...

After much research, Chadrick found out about two programs that could help. The first was Warriors’ Ascent in Kansas City, Missouri. The second was Quantum Leap Farm in Odessa, Florida. “These programs help Veterans learn to cope with PTSD,” said Chadrick.

Just when he was starting to gain hope for healing, he realized it would be extremely difficult to get to these programs. Driving would take a long time and even longer distances. But a round-trip flight wasn’t feasible on his limited income. Multiple flights were out of the question.

He had a long shot at healing. And it was almost impossible to make that shot.

...Reaches The Target

Just when Chadrick’s hope was beginning to run out, angels stepped in. But they weren’t the angels many would envision – it was the Veterans’ program of Mercy Medical Angels! Mercy Medical Angels’ program for Veterans, Angel Wings for Veterans, teamed up with Southwest Airlines. The nonprofit and the airline gave Chadrick the chance of a lifetime – charitable flights to and from the healing retreats.

After his experiences at Quantum Leap Farm and Warriors’ Ascent, Chadrick’s quality of life improved drastically. He feels ready to help others on their own healing journey.

“I truly enjoyed the retreat,” said Chadrick. “I look forward to using the assistance to become a mentor, and sharing my experiences with other veterans coping with PTSD.”

"Thank You So Much..."

When asked how Mercy Medical Angels and Southwest Airlines helped him, Chadrick’s answer spills over with gratitude.

“You are the reason I fought and continue to fight for this great country,” said Chadrick. “God bless all of my fallen friends and the ones who are still here.”

“Thank you so much for your help and assistance!”
