Female Veteran Attends Healing Retreat Via Charitable Flights
Battles Off the Field

Cornelia is a Veteran who lives in South Carolina. She's had a difficult time adjusting to civilian life, going from being part of a close-knit team in the military to having to figure everything out alone. Without the support she used to have, her mind began to fight a battle away from the battlefield. Doctors soon diagnosed her with Post Traumatic Stress (PTS).
Help Was Out of Reach...
Along with receiving the new diagnosis, Cornelia received new information. There was a weeklong healing retreat called Warrior Week being held at Camp Southern Ground in Missouri. This would help her reconnect with a support system and improve her mental health. There was just one problem: how would she get there?
...But She Still Received It
That was when Cornelia learned about charitable flight assistance from Mercy Medical Angels' program for Veterans and American Airlines. The nonprofit helped to arrange and pay for round-trip flights, taking everything into consideration. With the charitable flight assistance, Cornelia recieved help that was once out of reach.
"My flight was great," said Cornelia. "My itinerary matched my reservation, and there were no complications with onboarding and off boarding to destinations. Seats were comfortable and clean. Staff was amazing and provided excellent customer service. Pilots greeted me as I onboarded and off boarded."
"Thank You So Very Much!"
Now, Cornelia is back home from Warrior Week at Camp Southern Ground. She has a renewed sense of strength and purpose, along with meaningful connections she can call on if she needs help.
"Mercy Medical Angels amd American Airlines made a better life possible for me," said Cornelia. "Thank you so very much!"
