Stories from Grateful Patients: Tara

April 3, 2025

In Her Own Words...

"I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, or CML, in September of 2018. I had an active senior, junior and freshman at the time of diagnosis. Treatment was rough at first, but my husband, children and I adapted well."

"In 2021, a year after my youngest graduated, I had a heart attack and coded. I ended up with a pacemaker/defibrillator. But I had no real answers as to why I had the heart attack. Later on, it turned out I had heart disease."

"Mercy Medical Angels made it possible for me to access care for CML and heart disease. Their kindness and reliability ensure I can stay alive. CML and heart disease have done a lot of damage. But I thank God that I am still here to tell my story. And let me tell you, my story is not over!"
