Robb Alpaugh, Pilot, President & CEO | Mercy Medical Angels
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mercy Medical Angels (MMA) President and CEO, Robb Alpaugh. Mr. Alpaugh unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021.

Mr. Alpaugh has been the President and CEO of MMA since July 2015 and also served as Executive Director of its Angel Wings for Veterans, Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic, Angel Canines and Wounded Warriors and Angel Wheels transportation programs. Mr. Alpaugh was also the Past Chairman of the Board of Air Charity Network.

Over his five years with MMA, Robb led the Organization with great dedication and skill; his business acumen stemming from a career forged in the corporate world – from software to real estate – spanning more than 40 years.

“It was his love of flying that began his association with MMA, as a Volunteer Pilot with Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic” said Steven Craven, long-time Board member and friend. “For nearly 15 years Robb flew more than 200 of what he called VIMs – very important missions.”

“Because of Robb’s leadership and guidance, the Organization is on very solid footing and it will continue honoring his memory by providing charitable transportation to critical medical treatment for those in need” said RADM James B. Godwin III, USN (Ret) and MMA Board Chairman. “Stephanie Bollmann, our Chief Operating Officer, will assume Robb’s duties while the Board conducts a search for our new President and CEO” said RADM Godwin.

Founded 49 years ago, Mercy Medical Angels is the nation’s largest provider of charitable medical transportation for patients in need to reach critical clinical care. Mercy Medical Angel’s mission is to “remove the barrier to medical care with transportation on the ground with gas cards bus and train tickets and in the air with flights by volunteer pilots and the commercial airlines.” For information about Mercy Medical Angels or to make a donation in Robb Alpaugh’s memory, please visit www.MercyMedical.org
