Stories from Grateful Patients: Manuel

In His Own Words...
"My name is Manuel, I'm 61 years old, and I live in a small town in Western Texas. My health struggles began in 2016, when I found out I had kidney cancer and needed surgery. The very next year - 2017 - I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I had my thyroid removed. To make sure the cancer didn't come back, I needed to go in for check ups and scans every 6 months. In 2019, I had more surgery on my kidneys. Then in 2022, my knees started to have problems and they also needed an operation."
"I'm disabled and can't work, plus I'm on Medicare. I can't afford frequent travel, even if it's medically necessary. My insurance won't cover it, so I needed outside help."
"Mercy Medical Angels, through a partnership with the Hogan Family Foundation, paid for and arranged my medically necessary flights to and from Dallas/Fort Worth. They've helped me since 2023. I want to say this to Mercy Medical Angels. Thank you for the invaluable role you have played by ensuring I can get the care I need. It is deeply appreciated."
