Stories from Grateful Patients: Marie

In Her Own Words...

"Hello, I'm Marie. I live just outside of Des Moines, Iowa. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, or EDS, along with many other conditions. EDS affects my connective tissue in many ways. One way it affects me is my spine is very unstable and my ligaments super lax. This combo can cause - and was causing  - compression of my spinal cord."

"I needed to travel to New York for surgery. It would be the first of possible more surgeries on my spine to help make it more stable and protect my spinal cord. However, I'm on a fixed income and I couldn't afford the costs of travel."

"Mercy Medical Angels made it possible for me to access the surgery I needed. They paid for and arranged round-trip flights to and from New York. My flight was great. Truly, they improved my quality of life with their generous transportation assistance. So to anyone who's part of the team at Mercy Medical Angels, thank you!"
