Kley Parkhurst wears many hats as a volunteer pilot. He's flown rescue animals from shelters to their forever homes, and helped with disaster relief missions in the aftermath of hurricanes. He also helps with flying patients to non-emergency medical care for Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic and Angel Flight Northeast.

Back in March, Kley heard that Moshe, a baby with complex medical needs, wouldn't be able to access care in another state, he jumped at the chance to help. Then another pilot cancelled and the second leg of Moshe's flight almost didn't happen. Kley stepped in to fly the second leg of the mission, and got Moshe the help he needed.

"One challenge of flying Angel Flight missions is that the passengers are often facing dire circumstances, with uncertain outcomes, and it can be it quite disheartening to witness first-hand. So it’s always joyful when the outcome is unexpectedly positive, as was the case in round trip Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic and Angel Flight Northeast missions for 13 month old Moshe and his parents, who were expecting to confront emergency surgery but instead learned that no surgery was necessary and to just monitor the situation."

Moshe is currently thriving and his family is grateful. As for Kley, he's ready to help where he can. Needless to say, this chronicle from the cockpit had a happy ending!
