A Mess of Multiple Conditions

Rhonda is a Veteran who suffers from multiple medical conditions. She can read them off like a list of unfinished chores. "PTSD, anxiety, depression, migraines, spinal injuries, nerve damage, osteoporosis - just to name a few."

Like the indecision that comes with cleaning and organizing a messy household, Rhonda didn't know where to start her healing journey. She felt alone in her struggles. Even as she longed for connection, she found herself shutting people out and isolating. This didn't help her health at all.

New Year, New Beginning

January 2024 had barely started when Rhonda found out about Quantum Leap Farm. The farm offers healing retreats, many of which involved caring for horses. In addition, she could meet other female Veterans.

For the first time in a long time, Rhonda's hopes began to soar. This was a perfect chance to find the connection she so desperately needed.

From Darkness...

Unfortunately for Rhonda, Quantum Leap Farm was more than 960 miles away by air. She couldn't afford a round-trip ticket. Driving wasn't an option either - depending on the conditions, it could take longer than 17 hours without stopping.

It seemed like the promise of a new beginning had been plunged into darkness. Rhonda was starting to lose hope all over again.

...To Daybreak

As it turned out, daybreak pushed away despair. Mercy Medical Angels' program for Veterans secured round-trip tickets on Southwest for Rhonda. With the charitable flights lifting her up, she could attend the therapeutic retreats at Quantum Leap Farm.

"Being able to travel to these retreats has made my healing journey so much easier," said Rhonda. "Getting much-needed therapy and being around other Veterans who share my experiences has been life-changing."

"A Huge Part of My Recovery"

Rhonda may need more help in the future. But now she can rest assured that she doesn't have to be a one-woman army. Mercy Medical Angels' program for Veterans and Southwest will fight alongside her - until she can finally experience peace. At long last, she is riding into the sunrise.

"Mercy Medical Angels and Southwest have been a huge part of my recovery," said Rhonda. "You are helping so many people, especially Veterans with multiple conditions who just want to heal and feel like themselves again."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
